Users

Users - are authenticated internally or through directory services. When ldap authentication is set up, Logscape makes a local copy of the ldap user and uses this information to authenticate or verify the user against an ldap server. Active Directory and various ldap implementations are supported. A graphical tool is recommended to navigation an ldap tree to verify the correct filters. More experienced users can use command-line tools available on their platform of choice.

Note: The sysadmin, admin accounts are the default internal administrative accounts.

Role - The role of the user defines what a user can do in the system. There are four main roles.

  • Read Only User - Can execute ready-made searches and workspaces
  • Write Only User - Can open and modify workspaces and searches
  • Team Administrator- Creates, edit and delete Data Sources
  • System Administrator - Has access to all administrative functions in the system

The System Administrator role can be administered through Active Directory or LDAP.

Team - Each user can be assigned to a team. The team defines what searches, workspaces and data a user has access to.
